Big Data has become one of the newest buzzwords in marketing and entrepreneurship. This panel will explore how Big Data has become one of the hottest areas of entrepreneurship and the role of big data within marketing. Our panelist are all founders or co-founders of big data companies from either a consulting or software product perspective.

Dean Malmgren

Co-founder at Datascope Analytics

Dean MalmgrenDean is a co-founder and data scientist at Datascope Analytics, a data-driven consulting and design firm in Chicago, where he has helped companies like P&G, Daegis, and Thomson Reuters use data to solve the right problem. When he's not brainstorming data-driven concepts or writing code to analyze/visualize data, he enjoys DIY projects, cooking, playing sports (e.g., running, cycling, golf), reading, and a hearty dose of parenthood.

For the background inclined, he received a BS from the University of Michigan and a PhD from Northwestern University. He has also had the pleasure of speaking at conferences like Strata and publishing peer-reviewed research in journals like Nature, Science, and PNAS that have been featured in places like TIME, Wired, and US News & World Report.

Scott Duncan

Founder and President of Agile Healthcare

Scott DuncanScott has more than 25 years’ experience developing commercial database and software products, primarily for healthcare providers, but also in fields as diverse as e-commerce, travel, inventory management, legal, industrial engineering, structural engineering and education. His development efforts have been primarily focused on Predictive Analytics for both Marketing and Operations.

Scott is currently founder and President of Agile Healthcare, which provides Predictive Analytics products and services for Hospital Resources Planning and Management. Scott’s prior experience includes CIO for Sg2, and VP of IT or Development for GainSystems, Tripoint, iExplore and Sachs Group. Scott earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University, with a dual-major in Computer Sciences and Applied Mathematics, and a Master’s Degree from Villanova University in Computer Sciences.

Steve Olechowski

Founder of Blinkfire Analytics

Steve OlechowskiSteve Olechowski is a serial entrepreneur and active angel investor, and is currently the founder of Blinkfire Labs in Chicago and an Adjunct Lecturer at The Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Prior to that, he was co-founder and COO of Feedburner which was acquired by Google. While at Google he led efforts around Content Syndication and Mobile Monetization in the Google AdSense and Display Advertising groups. Prior to founding and integrating FeedBurner, he was VP of Product and Engineering at 724 Solutions, a mobile infrastructure company.

Steve is an advisory board member at Northwestern University’s NUvention Web program, and on the Board of Directors of Groovebug, a mobile music platform connecting labels and music lovers.

Steve's areas of expertise include mobile strategy, content syndication, and international business development.

In his spare time, Steve manages his boys' soccer teams at Sockers FC in Palatine, Illinois, and plays a lot of soccer himself.

Pam McNamaraPassionate about how important lead generation and customer engagement are to business success, Pam McNamara has led Prairie Orange since 2005, working with clients to find their strategic and tactical sweet-spots that inspire customers and prospects. Prior to founding Prairie Orange, Pam held vice president positions with Digitas, J. Brown / LMC Group, and Insight-Strategy-Logic.

After many years in the San Francisco Bay Area, Pam returned to her Midwest roots to help Digitas open their Chicago office in 2001. She has extensive experience managing in-house marketing and agency client services teams, developing process, managing marketing operations, and owning P&L responsibilities. She believes the marketing function must be accountable for producing tangible results and positive ROI. She is an innovative problem-solver with strong acuity for marketing financial analysis, revenue forecasting, resourcing and estimating.

Today Pam lives in the great region of Chicagoland, enjoys connecting with the Built-in-Chicago’s entrepreneur community and survives winter by taking in as much live music, theatre, and museum exhibits as possible. Pam holds an MBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a B.S. in Business Administration-Marketing from Marquette University.

Alex Arzoumanidis

Alex ArzoumanidisArzoumanidis is the founder of Psylotech, Inc., which produces unique mechanical test instruments, enabling finite element analysis of polymers, composites, and other difficult to model materials.  Prior to Psylotech, Dr. Arzoumanidis was at Schlumberger Doll Research in the Materials and Mechanical Sciences Group. He holds a Doctorate and Masters from the University of Texas at Austin, was previously a Guest Lecturer at MIT, and is currently an Affiliate at Northwestern University’s Segal Design Center.
